Tesco Advert Part 1

Amanda is one of the new faces of Tesco with their new advert which aired earlier this week. She plays the part of Penelope Belcher, the "irritating nouveau-riche" sister of Ripley’s character, in a role Amanda described as in the mould of Hyacinth Bucket from the 1990s BBC series 'Keeping Up Appearances'

In the advert Holden claims that her surname is pronounced Bel-Chere, just as Hyacinth insisted on her surname being pronounced Bouquet.

Set in a Tesco store, the advert features Fay and Mark browsing for Christmas gifts. Fay calls her sister to ask what presents her family might like and Penelope reels off a list of desirable and expensive-sounding gifts including cameras, computer games and toys. Mark dashes around Tesco finding each item on her wish list and with Tesco Direct they have them delivered to her door.

Carolyn Bradley, marketing director at Tesco UK, said: "Amanda brings sparkle and humour to our Christmas campaign, playing the part of Fay’s over-the-top sister perfectly with her tongue firmly planted in her cheek."
